Look at all that ice! This was coating absolutely everything, power lines, trees, poles. No wonder 200,000 people in Louisville lost power. Thank goodness we didn't considering it was freezing for the next week and a half and nothing really melted until then. We actually had four missionaries staying in our basement for a few days. It was fun playing darts and getting to know them. It was kind of like having our little brothers staying with us.
This was all the snow and ice in our backyard, you probably can't tell, but there are icicles hanging from everything the firepit, the patio set, and the swing. It looks so sad!
Look at all the branches on the tree hitting the ground. The ice is so heavy it's weighing down the branches and bending the limbs.
Landon all decked out in his snow gear at the park. We went over there about two days after because there is some great sledding hills! The hills were packed with people and they even had jumps set up. Some of the people were crazy going down it, but it was probably because they never get enough snow to really sled.
Daddy and Landon match as they go sledding. Unfortunately Landon didn't really care for sledding; he screamed the whole way down the hill. We had fun even though Landon acts like a zombie when he gets cold and has to be toted around. Although it was cold for those couple of weeks it was fun to get a chance to go sledding although we didn't have a sled and had to borrow one from someone at the sledding hill.
Here's a video of us sledding down our front hill with boogie boards, since we didn't have sleds. It is a lot of fun, but it takes a few runs to pack it down enough to slide easily down.
The ice storm took down a big branch in our neighbors yard the day after. All day you could hear the branches cracking and breaking under the weight. This picture was taken later after all the snow had melted.
About a week and a half later this branch that had fallen part way down and was behind our neighbors garage tipped our way and fell on our shed again. Jace is very excited for all the work to cut up the branches and try to reassemble the shed. Oh well, at least he gets to buy a chainsaw! Power tools, every mans' dream.
